Stranwiches @153 Stranmillis Rd
The menu had a wide variety of sandwiches, a lot of ingredients I had never even heard of. There was options for vegetarians as well and although my vegetarian housemates were unavailable at the time to go I asked them to review this menu and see if its somewhere they'd like to try. There response was that this is definitely somewhere they'll have to check out as the vegetarian options sounded great although the sandwich option seemed much more appealing to them rather than the burrito.
Inside is very small, not very much room to move and has two small high chair tables, I would not recommend sitting in and eating here as its very busy and people would be crowded around your table when lining to order. I ordered my sandwich and took it back to my apartment to enjoy instead.
We ordered two different sandwiches and had half of each. This in the image above is the Katsu chicken sandwich, I ordered this as I've never had sandwich like it and was intrigued to try the Japanese style slaw. This sandwich contains double chicken cutlet, seasoned with salt and chilli, Japanese style slaw, kewpie mayo, spring onion, white cabbage, sesame and katsu ketchup. I was spectacle when ordering this as the ingredients are not anything I'd usually order but the risk was so worth it in the end. the chicken was cooked perfectly, the cabbage mixed with the slaw gave it the perfect crunch and mixed with the kewpie mayo and katsu ketchup meant it was not dry tasting. I would honestly say I think it may have been the best sandwich I've ever had, the only downfall would be the price which was £12, very pricey for a sandwich although it was worth every bite meaning I would give it a 5/5 for taste and presentation the only fault being a little pricey.
This sandwich is the turkey B.L.T. This contains house roasted turkey, smoked streaky bacon, lettuce, seasoned beef tomato, red cheddar and Italian mayo. A more basic sandwich than the katsu chicken, the turkey was shredded which I found made it a lot better than just a big slab of it, the turkey was also full of flavour. I'm not a a big fan of tomatoes but there was not an overpowering taste of them which I liked, and the bacon paired very well with the turkey, this sandwich was a lot more plain no big wow factor to the taste but I think this was as it was overpowered by lettuce, in the photo u can even see the ratio of each of the other ingredients to the lettuce, I feel if the lettuce wasn't overpowering all the ingredients I could have got a better taste out of the sandwich, it also lacked cheese. A little less lettuce and little more cheese would've personally made this sandwich perfect for me. Overall it was a delicious sandwich but again pricey as well at £11 and a little dry, but I would give it a 3.8/5 as is still a luxury sandwich and tasted amazing just not as good as the katsu chicken.
